Interim Relief for Deceased Journalists’ Families to ₹25,000

In a considerate move towards supporting the families of deceased urdu journalists, the Chairman of the Telangana Urdu Academy, Taher Bin Hamdan, has increased the interim financial assistance from ₹20,000 to ₹25,000.

This decision follows a representation made by the Telangana Urdu Working Journalists' Federation. The demand was raised during condolence meetings held last week in memory of two senior Urdu journalists — Sheikh Naseeruddin (Daily Munsif) and Syed Qadir Mohiuddin Waheed Qadri (Rashtriya Sahara and Ruby Channel).

At that time, the Urdu Academy had announced financial support of ₹20,000 each to the bereaved families.

However, during the event, the Federation urged for an increase in the assistance amount. Responding positively, Assistant Director of the Academy, V. Krishna, assured that the Chairman would consider the appeal. Following this, the Chairman sanctioned the increased amount.

The enhanced sum was personally handed over to Sheikh Imtiyaz, son of the late Sheikh Naseeruddin, at the Urdu Academy office located in the Haj House. For Waheed Qadri’s family, officials from the Academy will visit their residence to deliver the amount soon.

The cheque handover ceremony at the Academy office was attended by Federation President M.A. Majid, General Secretary Syed Ghouse Mohiuddin, and Assistant Director V. Krishna, reflecting a collective commitment to acknowledging the contributions of the late journalists.

This gesture has been widely appreciated within the Urdu media fraternity, who see it as a step forward in recognizing and supporting the community’s welfare needs.
